This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Some of our third party applications use non-user message queues that GO CLEANUP can not clean up. After time, these message queues fill up and can no longer be extended. This will cause the application using the message queue as an event driver to stop working. I would like to purpose two changes.
-Change the CPF2460 message description to return a fully qualified message description name. Currently it only returns the message queue name, so we don't know which library the message queue is having a problem (programmatically) if there are multiple ones on the system.
-Change the way CPF2460 reacts when the message description is used in that it automatically gets sent to the QSYSOPR/QHST when it is used. Otherwise MANY IBM i customers could have full message queues on their system and not know it.
Use case:
This change would help Find/Identify message queues on the system that is full and can not receive any more messages.
Scenario:
-Application message queue MYLIB/MYMSGQ has reached it maximum number of extents and has filled up.
-Another message is attempted to be sent to the message queue, but gets the CPF2460 error in the program message queue of the running job.
-The CPF2460 is also sent to the QSYSOPR message queue and to QHST showing both the Message Queue name and Message Queue library.
-Any monitoring tool that is on the system will pick up the event and clean up the Message Queue or clear it depending on the correct course of action.

This RFE is still being considered for a future enhancement, but because it is lower priority it has not yet been completed.
This seems like a valid request. Will look into it further.
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Power Systems
Product - IBM i
Component - Work Management and Messaging
Operating system - IBM i
Source - None
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Power Systems
Product - IBM i
Component - System Management
Operating system - IBM i
Source - None
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends ISV's need to be responsible for managing the message queues in their application(s).
CAAC has also noted that TAATOOLS has a utility to clear any message queue.
That said, the CAAC agrees this is a valid requirement, but is a low priority, "nice to have" feature.
