I was not wanting to change the launch icon (although that is useful). It is a unique TASK icon that would be useful, the one that shows DURING an ALT-TAB operation.
I may already have many sessions open to various systems. It would be nice to have unique icons show for each system during the task switch (client access worked this way). This is also the icon that shows when hovering over task bar.
The capability to accomplish what you are requesting is already there. Here are the steps:
1. Create a shortcut to one of the product's start exe files. For example: Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64\acslaunch_win-64.exe
2. Assuming you want the shortcut on the Desktop, drag it there.
3. The shortcut as-is will currently start the product. If you want it to start a particular 5250 session, modify its Target by giving it a parameter to the .hod file:
Edit the shortcut Properties (using right-click on the shortcut)
Modify the Target to include a parameter to the .hod file. For example:
Start_Programs\Windows_x86-64\acslaunch_win-64.exe C:\somepath\lp13ut28.hod
4. To modify the icon, select the "Change icon" button from the Properties panel.
We include some ACS specific icons for our product, but you can use whatever icons you want. For example, there are some available here:
%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
Change the path for "Look for icons in this file" to the above location. Enter.
Select the specific icon you want.
In Windows create short cuts to the 5250 plugin then assign any icon you want.
