This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Within Application Runtime Expert systems groups, we have to provide a user id/password for the tool to connect from the ARE server to each remote system we want our template to run on.
This requires either to have the same user profile/password, by default, on all remote systems, or to specify this user id/password for all remote systems.
The requirement is to be able to use an ssh keyfile (such as /home/xxx/.ssh/id_rsa) and a user id to connect with ssh in place of as-signon and as-rmtcmd.
1 - (out of ARE scope) on ARE server, for each remote system to be controlled, configure an ssh connection for a dedicated userid to use a key file so that password is no longer needed
2 - in ARE console runtime properties for a group, add a third way to connect to remote system with a user id and an ssh keyfile
3 - in ARE console, for each system where *DFTUSER (referring to group userid default configuration) cannot, allow a way to enter a specific user id and ssh keyfile
For systems where ssh keyfile is specified, either directly or through group default, ARE verify operation will use an ssh connection in place of as-signon, then as-rmtcmd connections.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature. The impact to smaller customers is small. However, for larger customers the need would be greater. The more folks that want to use ARE, the more important this will become.
Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
