I would like to see a feature in IBM i Access Client Solutions that shows a View Dependency Tree. By entering the name of a view, you would see a tree structure showing the tables and views that the views was dependent on as well as other views that were built over this view.
I have views built on top views that are built on top of other views. It would be nice to see the dependencies so I could know the impact of modifying or changing a view.
Example: I create View1 by joining Table A and Table B. View2 is created over View1 with certain select criteria. View 3 is created by joining view2 with Table C.
If I type in the name View1, I want to see that it was created over Table A and Table B and I want to see that View2 is dependent on View1 and View3 is dependent on View2

Regarding the previous update: We have no plans to bring the DB Navigator over to ACS. If you would like that feature, open a separate RFE and provide a business case.
Regarding the original request for this RFE, we are asking for the following information:
In our most recent 1.1.7.2 update which became available in October 2017, the Related Objects option was added to Schemas, Views, Work With -> Related Objects. Does that option meet the requirement? If not, please specify what additional support is needed.

Wouldn't this be available as a graphical representation when DB Navigator is migrated from client accesss for Windows? In that tool, a view was visually shown to be based on another view or table(s). I think that tool has a lot of value and could satisfy this request. As a side benefit, a grid of related items could be an option, if “show dependent items in table”, was a right-click off any selected object.
