This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Within SQL stored procedures, I would like to gain the ability to reference a stored procedure's parameters within a create table statement.
The current alternative I use is to create a qtemp table with fields matching the parameters that need to be used within the create table statement. You can then insert 1 record containing the parameter data into the qtemp table. Then within the create table statement, you can do a nested select on the single record to grab the needed field(s).
Lets say we have a stored procedure with a declared create table statement. The procedure takes in 2 parameters, a start date and an end date. Within the create table, we should be able to reference the start date and end date directly within the create table statement to grab the wanted data.
Example:
create or replace procedure testProc (a int)
begin
create table qtemp.test as (select * from someTable where col = a) with data;
end;

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed. While we agree that this is a valid request, the database team has a long list of higher priority requirements, so this request is not likely to be implemented anytime soon.
As a circumvention, the parameter value could be set into a global variable. Global variables can be used in a CREATE TABLE AS statement.
