IBM i service for ANZDFTPWD

The output of the ANZDFTPWD to a spoolfile only, might work 20 years ago, but in today's world that output format is no longer able to deal with today's demands.

Use Case:

We want to combine the information of the ANZDFTPWD command with other DB2 for i services.
Like QSYS2.USER_INFO and SYS2.GROUP_PROFILE_ENTRIES. This would enable us to report security vulnerability in an easy efficient way.

An enhancement for user profile management was delivered in spring 2021 with IBM i 7.4 PTF Group level 13 and IBM i 7.3 PTF Group level 24.

The SYSTOOLS.CHANGE_USER_PROFILE table function allows you to work with the results of the USER_INFO view (such as the USER_DEFAULT_PASSWORD column) and take an action for that user profile such as disabling it.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. There is still value in a helper function for managing security.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

For more information about CAAC, see www.common.org/caac

For more details about CAAC's role with RFEs, see http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/Blogs/i-Can/May-2017/COMMON-Americas-Advisory-Council-%28CAAC%29-and-RFEs/

    Please ignored this RFE.

The functionality requested in this RFE is already there in the IBM i service " QSYS2.USER_INFO" in the field "USER_DEFAULT_PASSWORD".

I did try to revoke this RFE, but that option is not available. I do hope this works.

    Greetings Rudi
