IBM Power Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Provide a way to Supress CPC2206

When running applications that do things such as recreate an object ("CREATE or REPLACE" in SQL or Create user space with option to Replace it) the system generates CPC2206 "Ownership of object XYZ in ABC changed."
In some applications this can get to be overbearing. In some cases calling an SQL Function (for example) that then evokes a Lateral join to another SQL Function that uses a User Space, that same CPC2206 message can appears dozens to several thousands of time in the joblog. Making joblog review ineffective to say the least.
We need a way to suppress these messages.
Some similar to the QIBM_CLI_MUTE_SPURIOUS_JOB_MSG Environment Variable or perhaps a System Value would be wonderful.

Use Case:

User spaces are used in many interfaces and re-creating things like SQL ALIAS's cause CPC2206 to be generated. The number of CPC2206 messages in the job is making the benefit of the Joblog less and less as too much uninteresting and repetitive information is being written to it. CPC2206 is one such message.

Just to restate the use case for my own understanding in case this is revisited later:
If the user profile creating the object has OWNER(*GRPPRF), the CPC2206 completion message is sent as the result of the create code transfering ownership to the group profile after the object is created. If the user profile has OWNER(*USRPRF), then the CPC2206 message will not be sent.

I understand the issue of being flooded with the message, and agree it would be nice if we could come up with some sort of a solution. However the message is sent from a common macro used pervasively across many components, and the security folks are hesitant on this one because they are not sure it's the right thing to do from a security stand point.

Therefore, I am declining at this time.

Moving to "under consideration" status for further investigation and evaluation.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature. Reducing clutter can be helpful.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
