This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

**** Update: Here's a couple more options which do not require you to change your configuration *****
1. From the System selection pulldown, hovering over an entry will bring up a tool tip showing the system description.
2. From the System Configurations panel which shows all of your systems including the description, you can right-click on a system and select an action.
We do not plan on providing both the System Name and Description in the System selection pulldown. However, it is currently possible for the System pulldown to be anything you'd like if you specify the IP address on the Connection tab with a lookup frequency of Never.
Here are the steps:
From the main GUI, select System Configurations
select a system and then the Edit button
select the Connection tab
In the Performance section, set "IP address lookup frequency:" to "Never - Specify IP Address"
Set "IP Address:" for the system or partition
Go to the General tab
You can now enter anything you want for "System name:" because the IP address you set on the connection tab will always be used when making a connection.
