CBU expiration warning

Automated CBU keys expiration warning process.

Use Case:

In certain DR enviroments, the CBU system is "cold", not running. To keep track of expire dates of CBU license keys is impossible when an LPAR is not running and is a manual process. In today's world this should be an automated process. IBM ESS site is aware of CBU keys to expire, so sending an e-mail to the primary contact person for POWER systems warning CBU keys are about to expire is important in order to have a DR available when needed.

Rudy, this is a great idea. In light of the strategic direction of better mobility and automation, we will keep this in mind and see if we can work it into the plan.

The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.

Today keys can expire without getting a notification from IBM and the user needs to keep track of expiry dates themselves. By having an automated notification of expiry would help users to keep their systems operating.

Background: The CEAC members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

This RFE is fully justified. Our mainstream shops are often mid and small size businesses with a limited number of IT personnel. A quick solution will help these businesses to act in time, make their managements aware of their IT support and increase our "feel good" quotient.

A simple and effective enhancement that will help keep users up to date and ensure their business will be supported in case of failover. Can we make it happen, please?
