We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by posting ideas and requests to this portal to enhance a Power product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,
Post an idea
Upvote ideas and add comments to ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The Power teams will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
IBM Unified Ideas Portal - https://ideas.ibm.com/ - Use this site to create or search for existing Ideas across all IBM products that are outside of Power, and track all of your personal interactions with all Ideas.

Hi Srikanth
Can you confirm what it is you are trying to achieve?
The IMAP protocol you mention is typically used to download and synchronise local mail folders and their emails, which would imply that you want your IBM i to be an IMAP client which seems an unusual use case?
Sending emails outboard from an IBM i to O365 via SMTP is not changing. You can also configure inbound email from O365 to IBM i without issue. So, if you just want to be able to send email from your IBM i to the outside world via O365 then there is little changing.
If you want to receive email from O365 into your IBM i then again I would be suggesting SMTP.
I hope this is of some use and I look forward to hearing more about what you and your client would like IBM i to do with email.
Cheers Brad

Currently, IBM i POP3 server only authenticate with client using user id and password. IBM i SMTP server can accept PLAIN authentication method (userid & password), and LOGIN method ( the userid & password are encoded in BASE64). When sending email to other mail server, IBM i SMTP client support CRAM-MD5, DIGEST-MD5, LOGIN, PLAIN.
To further investigation, we need understand how IBM i mail services are integrated with the Microsoft O365 and what's the planned configuration to use in O365.
1. Are emails stored on IBM i SMTP server and the emails are retrieved from IBM i with O365 POP3 protocol ? How are the SMTP configured on IBM i currently ?
2. Are emails sent from IBM i to O365 ? Are emails forwarded to O365 automatically? Is IBM i Mail Hub used currently ?
3. After the O365 disable the basic authentication, what authentication methods are supported?
