Remove SEU product offering

With the availability of numerous modern development platforms, SEU should be removed from the next release of IBM i. This would help facilitate the acceptance of modern practices and tooling.

The CAAC has reviewed this Idea and recommends that IBM not implement this request. Developers should move to modern tools such as RDi, Merlin, etc. However, there are some developers that will not move to something other than SEU. Forcing them would not be good for the platform.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual Ideas on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your Idea.

Do Not remove, Just charge the customers the same as You charge RDI' or even more. That way more customers will prefer RDI.

What is a system administrator to use to do very basic CL programming if they don't have SEU? Tools such as RDi are overkilil to edit the system's startup program.

🤣 A system without a native/built-in editor, no mater how primative, is not a valid perspective by anyone.

I disagree. PDM is integrated in our development system and even though we are using RDI for development, we are using PDM for certain things where RDI is extremely slow or don't have the options. So even though PDM is not updated since V6R1, it is still very usefull.
