IBM i 7.4 introduced APIs that support Native Digital Certificate Management, I would like IBM to build on this a deliver a natively supported ACME (Automatic Certificate Management Environment) protocol support to allow IBM i to automatically request, import and renew digital certificates in the IBM i 5770SS1 DCM (Digital Certificate Manager).

I appreciate that using the DCM APIs introduced in IBM i 7.4 you can write your own tooling or even implement opensource tooling to do this.
However, as digital certificates are a fundamental part of modern IBM i encrypted communications, may auditors are looking for audited total life certificate life management and to achieve this properly, I believe it would need to be integrated with the IBM i System Audit Journal to provide the same level of immutable, tamper proof auditing as IBM i does for the majority of it's security information.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address. With lifespans of certificates becoming shorter and shorter (google already talks about only accepting certificates with a 90 day validity) - there is a need for something else than manual handling.
