This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Today, we needed to add the IFS option onto a users screen.
I could not find an option to allow me to do so.
When we ran the install option, it simply ran the install with no prompts.
Administrators on the IBM i are not always authorized to access the user's PC to make changes. Only the desk top team can do that and they just give all authority or mix installs by USER or PUBLIC.
Suggestion:
========
Add an option, button or some thing that would permit authorized users to rerun these options without needing to have the desktop team do this. My experience with them is not all that good as sometimes they know too much or do not care, unfortunately.
The user given this option should have an IBM i user ID with *SECOFR, *SECADM or maybe *SYSOPR rights.
It should display a simple table of the options with a checkbox allowing access or removing access if unchecked.
Example:
Data transfer to IBM i __
Data transfer from IBM i __
Run SQL Scripts __
It may be necessary to add a component into the IBM i operating system to store a users authority. This could be optional and would be initiated the first time a user signs on. When a user signs on, ACS could then retrieve the options from the IBM i and display the allowed actions. In this way, admins can control what desk top teams give as access and admins can change the authorities on a simple 5250 screen listing all actions and allowing access as in the example above.
Thank you
