Machine pool minimum size setting for path switch.

Please refer to TS005543906(CritSit(MEC)) . The system is configured with multi-path storage via SAN switch. The serious problem (5250 telnet terminals dropped) happened when the system did path switch. It was because the lack of machine pool and caused TCP/IP tasks could not work well. The similar situation happened when we run path switch for the maintenance. It is not very good for the concurrent maintenance. So far, the solution is setting minimum machine pool size to avoid the lack of machine pool when the path switch happens. It means the customer have to get the trouble at least one time and tune with the performance data. It is not acceptable. Also, generally, it is a little bit difficult to tune the machine pool minimum size for the customer. Therefore, we want to ask you to improve the function NOT to use so much memory for the path switch. Or, please make the system tuner QPFRADJ keep the machine pool reserved area automatically for the path switch.

The CEAC has reviewed this IBM Idea and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority Idea that is important to be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual IBM Ideas on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your Idea.
