HMC Test Call home is not a complete test
When doing a test call home against the HMC a Problem number gets created and then a PMH should be supplied by the support center. The problems we are seeing is when no PMH is returned this are no alerts letting us know that the HMC failed to acquire a PMH.
I look at this as a failed test call home. We can't wait to find out the HMC had an issue after a server failed to place a call to support.
One suggestion I have is if the HMC could monitor the test call home for a PMH number and then post a unique event number we could use ITM to pick it up and open a local Incident to our UNIX Team in Service Now.

Hi,
We are looking at enhancing the procedure or providing additional guidance which can help with scenario mentioned in this RFE.
Thanks.
Not for the HMC. I have a routine that runs and checks for PMH each month and I never get one back . It looks like as long as the HMC creates the Problem Number it thinks its good. The call home test doesn't check for a returned PMH.
I need an alert when that happens so I can further investigate why I didn't get a returned PMH.
Dan
HMC should post an event E3D46FFF when call home fails even if it is a test call home. We have seen that it can sometimes take up to 3 hours for the event to post because of all the automatic retries that are taking place under the covers.
