Need to extract HMC information in iSeries LPAR


Use Case:

From iSeries command prompt need to execute iSeries command or call program to extract HMC information like HMC model, serial number, version etc.

At present there is iSeries command CALL QLZARCAPI which retrieves partition information in iseries system. Partition information like
For a partition using dedicated processors, System Type-Model, Partition Information etc.

    Some of the information that is being requested is available using an SSH command interface.

    QSH CMD('ssh userid@hmcname lshmc -v > outfile')

    It would be nice to be able to get this kind of information via an API of some kind.

    We need to create interface between IBMi to HMC and enhance the support and activities. Like view the information of HMC from IBMi Command line, Downloading the logs from HMC to IBMi.

    I understand at present there is no interface. Requesting to create a new interface.

    IBMi can have interface to tape library and view tape volumnes, and download all tape units information to IBMi. Similarly need to create interface from IBMi to HMC.

    There is not currently an interface between IBM i and the HMC to retrieve the HMC type, model, serial, version. However, we can retrieve the following information from the HMC: HMC name, HMC IP address, HMC Host Name, HMC connection state. Is this data sufficient to meet this requirement? Or is the HMC type, model, serial required which could only be supported on future HMC versions?
