Make IBM Data Studio work Better with SQL Source in IBM i Source Files

IBM Data Studio does not play smoothly with SQL source that lives on IBM i in source files/members. We 18 developers would like this tool to work better with source that lives in source files on the IBM i. We use this tool for IBM i but our workflow is clugy and inefficient. The tool does not work smoothly with SQL procedure source that lives in source members.

Use Case:

Using IBM Data Studio as a native SQL/PL development workbench for source that lives in source members on the IBM i.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. Best practice is to store source in IFS files. If you still feel that they should be stored as source file members, please submit an RFE to the Brand "Analytics Platform", and Product "Data Studio".

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

We have shared this request with the DB2 Connect team.
The decision is theirs to make, but they do accept input from us.
