This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

A new SYSTOOLS.IFS_UNLINK function has been added.
You can read about it on the fact page here:https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7148258
And in IBM Documentation here: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=services-ifs-unlink-scalar-function
Db2 for i development team
IBM Power Systems Development
IFS_DELETE procedure and function were implemented in SQL Tool Feb 2024 build, available today at www.SQLiQuery.com/SQLTools
IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.
There is no intent to supply SQL interfaces for all CL commands. The QSYS2.QCMDEXC scalar function and QSYS2.QCMDEXC procedure were implemented to make it easy for users to embed this type of operation within SQL.
Delete ifs files, is what I am looking for.
Yes, that is true. You can do a rmvlnk but, my thought process is, if we have a read and write, it would make sense to have a delete.
Since IFS files are stream oriented (not record oriented) you can't just delete data from an IFS file (instead you'll need to rewrite it).
So I presume the person wants to delete IFS files... but you can do this already with the RMVLNK command.
If you really want to do it from SQL you can use CALL QSYS2.QCMDEXC('RMVLNK OBJLNK(''yourifsfile'')');
Personally I don't see a point in duplicating every OS command or API to SQL... it's just a waste of resources (there are plenty of things that can't be done today, not even via an alternative method, that require such valuable resources).
Are you talking about a way to delete data in an IFS file or a way to delete IFS files using SQL?
