This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The information that we requested to clarify this enhancement request -- see below for details -- was not provided so the RFE is being closed. Please feel free to re-submit the RFE with the information that was requested.
It is caused by the TCP/IP connection timing out. You want to change the keep alive poll to be about 5 minutes less than whatever your network timeout is, typically 30 minutes, your IT folks should be able to tell you that exact amount. This is done on the IBM i by running the command CHGTCPA TCPKEEPALV(15) which would set it to 15 minutes. If you know that the timeout is 30 minutes then 20 to 25 would be more efficient. This is in documentation http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSAE4W_9.5.0/com.ibm.etools.iseries.troubleshoot.doc/topics/rse/ttrouble7.html?lang=en
But we could improve RDi in this regard by automatically attempting to re-establish the connection and only complain if that fails. Please let us know if this is sufficient to address the issue.
