We have a need to enlarge Number of bytes in a record which is currently set to a max value of 32766 bytes. As currently most of DB are support for more that 32766bytes no. Should be enhance the limitation to support for other platform as well.

    We understand the difficulty of a file reaching this limit. However, the cost of increasing this limit is too high to consider at this time so this Idea is being closed.

    Since the Case you opened indicates that you are trying to add many long character string columns to the table, we suggest using a CLOB (character large object) data type for the new columns. These types of columns will add some bytes to the record length, but most of the CLOB length is excluded from the 32766 total.

    We recommend reaching out to the IBM Technology Expert Labs for additional consultation for changing your data model. John Westcott (JWestcott@ibm.com) leads the database team which has a lot of experience working through these types of painful situations.
