This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The BRMS team has previously requested more clarifying information. Because the additional information was not provided within 30 days, the request has been closed.
BRMS doesn't change the backup history when a media class is changed for a volume as that could cause restore problems. The backup history represents what it was at the time of the backup and needs to be that way for the restore to work. Our thought would be to support a new CHGMEDBRM command parameter which would allow you to mark the volume full so it will not be an append candidate any longer. Would that be acceptable?
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and would like more details on what is trying to be done. Are there details in the PMR that can be summarized here?
Dawn May - CAAC Program Manager
Our thought would be to not do the media class changes...but to use the same media class but support a new CHGMEDBRM where you could mark the volume full? Would that help?
