IBM i Command Defaults Validation

5733ARE- Administration Runtime Expert validation of IBM i Command Defaults.

Please provide an IBM supplied plugin that would allow ARE to capture Command Defaults for the system.

Use Case:

For example in our company we have multiple environments where each environment has it's own custom command defaults set for development use cases. The CMDDFTs vary for us because of 3rd party applications.

When applying PTFs there's always a potential of those custom CMDDFTs of getting set to an IBM supplied default. By trial and error, we know that when we apply cume/groups that potential is more likely.

However, when applying one-off PTFs those are cases where things are unforeseen. We eventually figure it out but most times it's not so obvious in these ad-hoc fixes.

Ideally we could setup an ARE template per environment where we could run validation and immediately verify and know if a PTF, upgrade, etc has change a command default.

Please review. Thanks!

IBM understand the request and will consider it as part of our plans.

@pnicolay - Yes, we have them set in a CL as a quick fix. However as mentioned it's not always evident that's the source of the issue. So rather than run the 'guess and see' CL approach, we'd prefer to verify using the ARE reports and confirm that a change was made. This would help be proactive in other production environments and justify changes with our change management process.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - System Management
    Operating system - IBM i

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - Other
    Operating system - IBM i
    Source - Client

I have all my CMDDFT's in a CL... easy to run after an update or PTF install.
