Download .MBR files doesn't convert to ASCII

When using "Integrated File system" program and I download a member file from /QSYS.LIB/AWPDEV.LIB/qrpglesrc.file, the resulting file isn't in ASCII and is unreadable. If I try to view the file it crashes the entire Client Solutions program and not just "Integrated File system".

Use Case:

We copy RPG and CL source code from /qsys.lib/ourlib.lib/qrpglesrc.file.
This works from the Windows version of client access but so far hasn't worked from IBM i Access client Solutions.

Our next update will include a View... action with an optional "View as UTF-8 text file" similar to what is supported on the Download... action. With this update, when the "View as UTF-8 text file" option is selected on View... or the "Save to UTF-8 text file" option is selected on Download... for a MBR in QSYS, the SRCDTA records will be returned one per line. The keyboard shortcut ctrl-c can be used to copy the text from the displayed view.

I think that should work. We use this process to copy the RPG and DDS source into GIT and then once in GIT we are able to easily move the source code to other servers and keep a record of all versions of the code along with our other java changes.
If what we copy is formatted exactly as how we get it from the Windows version then it should be good.
Right now the only issues with the Java version is the newlines and missing leading blanks.

If we added a View... action that would optionally do the conversion like Download... and also provided another option to optionally insert newlines, would that satisfy the request?

Attachment (Description): Using the new way to download as utf-8 doesn't work as it is removing leading spaces most of the time. Here is a screen shot using the java version to get the data.

Attachment (Use case): Screen capture of how I copy the data in a .MBR file

I see the option to convert to utf-8 now in "Download..." I always used "Download" before so I didn't know this option existed.
    Thanks for this enhancement.

Having it all on one line does make it difficult to use though.
In the Windows version I right click on the *.MBR file and choose Edit. Then I'm able to copy the source without issue.

We added an option to the Download... action in our most recent update (1.1.8.5) which allows you to "Save to UTF-8 text file". The resulting file can be viewed on your PC with a text editor. Since a MBR has fixed length records with no line ending characters, the converted text will all be on one line. So you may need to use a text editor capable of setting the record length. If this does not satisfy the requirement, please provide additional information about the specific option you were using in IBM i Access for Windows (screen shots would be helpful).

For the reported crash, please work with our Service team so they can gather the necessary logs for debug.
