MOVMEDBRM function

would like to MOVMEDBRM stop to mark tapes moved to a different location if tape drive is not available.
The command could in msgw state or failed with log.


Use Case:

We noticed issues when TAPMLB sometimes doesn't varied on after IPL.
Wile MOVMEDBRM job runs every day it detected TAPMLB can't be allocated, but still process to mark tapes moved from location TAPMLB01 to VAULT. But actually tapes never been ejected physically.
These tapes then sit in ATL until expiration. Again the location changed from VAULT to HOME, which is our default home location. Thus further prevents any backup jobs to use these expired tapes.
If MOVMEDBRM could stop when TL device is not allocated, this issue wouldn't happen.
An operator can vary on TAPMLB01 manually, before MOVMEDBRM continues.
It's like backup won't run if no tape drives available, move media could just stop as well. So no tape discrepancy between logical and physical locations.

    The BRMS team needs more information to further assess your Request for Enhancement. BRMS offers the concept of setting up move verification. Would this possibly work for your situation? Please reference the BRMS wiki information related to Setup 4 at the following location:

    L.S.,

    In the Advanced Job Scheduler you have the option to check if a device is varied on before a AJS task running the MOVMEDBRM is executed. This option can be found in Navigator for i => Work Management => All Tasks => Advanced Job Scheduler => Scheduled Jobs => Scheduled Jobs => Right click any job => Resource Dependencies. Here you canb set the dependency for a Tape Library to be available before the job is run.

    It might not be what you want, but I assume for the time being it is a valid work around. Of course only if you have the Advanced Job Scheduler.
