BRMS command to check for available Media in Tape Library

Request to supply a command to pre-check that the required media are available in the Tape Library before BRMS backup starts.


Use Case:

During night, BRMS jobs are running in the background to save parts of the system.
In case no useful expired media (of a particular media class) is available in the Tape Library when the evening backup starts, the backup job will prompt asking to load the correct media.
This is a bit late , since we are not in the office when the backup starts.
Our request is to have a BRMS command to be able to check that the required media is available in the Tape library . If such a command is available, we could schedule a job in the afternoon to perform that check.

    The BRMS team needs more information to further assess your Request for Enhancement. The CHKEXPBRM command is currently available for checking for required media. Please let us know if this addresses your needs and if it ok to close this request.

    Hello Jo,

    For checking this we use the command CHKEXPBRM, this command will generate an escape message BRM1390 if the check is unsuccessful. If the check is successful a completion message BRM1933 will appear in the BRMS log and of course also in the joblog.
