Security settings on Save Restore

Add ability to override source security settings when restoring an object.

Use Case:

When saving an object on one system and restoring to another system will keep the settings from the object which already exists on the system being restored to. Would like a flag in the API/Command to force override of target object settings with those of the object being restored. This is to include all attributes not just security settings.

IBM has previously requested more clarifying information. Because the additional information was not provided, the request has been closed.

More information is needed. Could you provide a simple example scenario? In our discussion we had conflicting views on what you were asking.

The CAAC has reviewed this RFE. More information is needed. Could you provide a simple example scenario? In our discussion we had conflicting views on what you were asking.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

For more information about CAAC, see www.common.org/caac

For more details about CAAC's role with RFEs, see http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/Blogs/i-Can/May-2017/COMMON-Americas-Advisory-Council-%28CAAC%29-and-RFEs/

IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.

This would seem to be a reasonable suggestion. The current options allow for objects being restored to either be restored and overwrite the existing attributes or having the restore fail because the changing of attributes is not allowed. It does seem like a third option, restore but the existing attributes in place would be a reasonable option to have.
