Toolkit job need to reattempt HMC connection

This issue is related Tookit iHA 1.2. In our environment there are 2 flash backups daily as Pre flash backup (EXT) and Post flash backup (SHW).

Referring to IBM case TS010715954 IHA Toolkit 4.4 GOLD_ PT backup issue

Couple of days back we had issue with one of iHA 1.2 pit system, after completion of flash copy from prod system job GOLD000F01 failed on management system instead of taking backup.

we have found error as,

031668 2022-09-23 22:10:34 Warning Error on IPL of partition GOLD-PIT on CASTOR.

exit-status : 1

] (iplLPAR)


On the same day and same time there was AOC replacement going on and we suspect because of this only HMC communication interrupted and job GOLD000F01 from management lpar tried to connect to HMC but due to unavailable/ lock, it got failed.


Is there any way, IBM can modify in such way, if HMC busy or lock then it will reattempt after some time (lets say 10 min) ? so that there will be no issue in future, as flash will take only 2-3 min by the time if any flash running it will complete by the time.

    The IBM Lab Services organization provides a toolkit as a customized add-on to PowerHA.

    Since this request is for an enhancement to the lab services offering and not the PowerHA product or IBM i product, this Idea is being marked as ???Not under consideration.' In general, we encourage you to work with your lab services representative to request enhancements for the lab services tools.

    However, in case it is helpful for this particular case, If there is a network or hardware failure during a run, that needs be fixed and then start again.
